Tizen - A Possible Alternative to Android/AOSP for Tablets & Digital Signage?

Android/AOSP is the dominant o/s used in access control, POS, PDAs, KDS and digital signage devices. These are primarily used in business specific applications.

AOSP is open source; however, devices with Android or AOSP encounter Google's restrictive practices with applications, installation, and device management.

Tizen, developed by Samsung, is a suitable open-source alternative, managed under the Linux Foundation.

Tizen fully supports .NET and multi-platform MAUI; hence making it ideal for businesses already in the .NET ecosystem.

The devices can be deployed and managed using existing Linux tools - no special MDM is required.

If Samsung, along with Amazon, Microsoft and other tech companies embrace Tizen o/s, Tizen could possibly grow as a viable alternative to Android for tablets and digital signage.
